Tate was looking so much better tonight that I just had to post this pic. His swelling went way down and he just looked much better!

Turns out to be a good news day!
Okay I know I said there wouldn't be much of an update today, but that changed. He got his echo cardiogram today instead of what they said "in a few days" so the results came in really fast and they said that his heart doesn't have a coarch (don't quote me on the spelling) but that just means that the drug they took him off of that closed the vein that is open in the womb and closes after birth is closed now and his blood flow is still good and getting enough blood to the body. If he did have the coarch then it would have meant that no oxygenated blood would get through the heart. It's all hard for me to explain and Brandon gets things so much faster than I do, so it's making me miss him so much more because they have to tell me 3 times before I get it, and then I still can't tell other people what it all means, but I am getting smarter every day. They took him off of his blood pressure medication and he is still doing well. They will take him off of the paralysis medication tomorrow and hopefully try to remove his breathing tube in a few days. Ten days after surgery they'll try doing a swallow test and feeds through his feeding tube. All was good news today and that's enough to make me relax a little.
Okay, Not much to report, but that he is doing well today. He will be on the paralyze medication for one more day and then he'll be able to move again and I'll be more able to touch and talk to him. For now they don't want any stimulation for him at all because we don't want him trying to wake up. So I'm glad there is only one more day of that. He has an infection in his chest from the surgery but they have him on some good antibiotics so it's not too much of a worry at this point. Thank you everyone for all the prayers! We love you all!

Another Angel!
March 30th 2010
Tate is doing awesome. There won't be too much to let you know in the next couple of days, since he is just in recovery. They are just going to let him heal and then they'll probably do another echo cardiogram in a few days. For now he's on meds that keep him paralyzed so he just lays there as sweet as can be. I love him so much and I keep seeing people walking out of the hospital with car seats and looking so forward to the day that it'll be Brandon and I leaving with a full car seat!

First Surgery
Baby Tate had his first surgery today and it went really well. He is now in recovery and they were able to connect both ends of the esophagus and disconnected the esophagus from the trachea. We have also found out that he only has one kidney, but that it looks really well and healthy. He will be heavily sedated for the next 3 days so that he can't irritate or stretch the esophagus. He was in surgery from 2:30 till about 7:30.
My dear Tatum
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away.
The other night dear, as I lay sleeping. I dreamped I held you in my arms. When I awoke dear I was mistaken. So I hung my head and I cried.

Tatum has surgery today at noon. they are going in to repair his trachea and his esophagus today and the surgeons are very positive about what they are doing. Tatum is very strong today and ready for the surgery. He looks good and had a picc line put in which is like a central line for his medication to go in and he won't have to have his iv's moved and it's more permanent than the iv's so he won't get poked as much- yeah! He is really strong and hasn't had to be sedated in over 24 hours. He just sleeps and is calmed very easily by patting him on his back or rubbing his head. He is my little angel and we are anxious for him to get our baby in and out of surgery! We'll let you know how it all goes.

For now this is Tatum's home and we are trying as hard as we can to be by his side as much as possible. They only allow 2 people in at a time to see him so Brandon and I are trying to be with him together as much as possible. We have had so many people come and support us and we have been so grateful of all the family and friends being so caring and loving!!! We just can't believe how much support we have and we want you all to know how much we love and appreciate all of you for the prayers and love that are sent our way!!! We will keep all of the information that we get day to day posted here on the blog so keep checking and watching for what new is happening with our new Angel! We named the blog Tatum's Angels because we feel like so many people are watching over him from this side and from the other. We would like everyone who has any stories or feelings you may have about Tate to have you send them to me at zeffie_13@hotmail.com so we can post all of his angels on his blog. One of Tatum's Angels is Grandma and Grandpa Sheriff. The day before we had Tatum Grandma was at the temple and felt inspired to put our names on the prayer roll. We know that many people since then have also done the same and we are grateful for being in every one's prayers and thoughts! We feel all the love coming, so THANKS! Brandon and I will post our stories of the birth soon so you can watch for those. Tatum is scheduled for his first surgery which is to separate his trachea from his esophagus tomorrow (Monday) but we don't know what time yet, so we'll let you when we do and how it all goes.
